22 people came out to Tar Hollow State Park on Memorial Day weekend for the Second Annual (we hope) Buckeye Goat Highlander orienteering event. The weather was beautiful, even if the company we had in the park was not. Apparently, if you're church group, you think you can control whether people can hike through your camp site in a public Ohio State Park.
In this version of billygoat course, those doing the Kid were allowed to skip 1 control of their choosing. It was interesting to hear the ones that people chose. The most popular one to skip was #4, which also removed some climb from the course. For the Goat course, you had to punch all controls but you had a choice whether to do the A or B course – the difference was the location of 6a vs. 6b, and 7a vs. 7b. The Goat courses were 10km, the Kid course was 4km, and the White course was 3km around the lake.
