Spring-O 2015
Grant Park - May 24, 2015

On a beautiful day around 80 participants attended this year’s MVOC Spring-O event. The format has been different in previous years. Instead of regular orienteering courses the event was a Score-O where participants were told to find as many orienteering markers as they could, in any order, before the event closed at 4 pm. There were a total of 25-markers. Each marker was worth one point. Most of them were fairly close to trails. This was in consideration for beginner level orienteers but also due to the heavy vegetation this time of year. Some of the markers were on the other side of Holes Creek. An area rarely used since the stream is un-crossable after heavy rainfalls, which also makes it difficult to plan regular orienteering courses. Everyone seem to enjoy the event, including myself and registration helper Matt Bond who were well fed with sandwiches and fruit by the Springboro JROTC. Many thanks! Also special thanks for Matt Bond and Nick Mihalik for marker pickup!
